The Boss Body Podcast with Dr. Tim Jackson | Ep. 54 Getting to the Brass Roots of Metabolic Syndrome with Morley Robbins, M.B.A | October 9, 2023

In this podcast episode, Morley speaks with Dr. Tim Jackson on The Boss Body Podcast about the importance of key minerals: magnesium, copper, and iron in the body.

They explore the role of minerals as cofactors and the impact of stress on mineral balance. They also delve into the relationship between B vitamins and copper, debunk the misconception of copper toxicity, and highlight the role of copper in energy production.

They discuss the effects of hyperglycemia on mineral regulation and the connection between cortisol and copper. The episode emphasizes the need to understand mineral interactions and address mineral imbalances for optimal health.

POST TAGS

This is the first of 3 interviews Morley has with Sascha and the Sovereign Collective Podcast.

In this one he speaks about why bioavailable copper is so crucial and the lack of it is at the root of so many health issues. Today he goes through:

  • the essential role copper plays in mitochondrial health
  • how the body has the natural ability to heal barring unresolved trauma or deficiencies
  • how neuropeptides (signalling molecules) ALL need to be activated via a copper enzyme
  • how the idea that one is iron anemic and copper toxic is the opposite of the truth in most cases
  • where copper is distributed in the body
  • what ceruloplasmin is, one of the largest proteins in your body you haven’t heard about
  • how Morley believes that copper is the crux of our self-healing
  • how it’s not copper that is toxic, but rather iron that can’t be regulated when copper is not bound in the proper protein
  • what healthy copper and ceruloplasmin levels should be and the ideal Cu/ceruloplasmin ratio
  • the enormous number of copper atoms in healthy mitochondria
  • how chronic and acute stress cause nutrient depletion
  • how my apparent past symptoms of zinc deficiency may actually be related to high iron
  • how low iron in the blood does not generally mean low iron in the body
  • how the level of storage form of vitamin D is not an indication of the level of active form of vitamin D
  • how low copper, leads to high iron, leads to low magnesium, leads to low storage vitamin D
  • as we age, copper goes down and iron goes up
  • how all symptoms of ageing relate to iron accumulation
  • how are symptoms are linked to impaired energy production and are labelled ‘disease’ but are not actually disease
  • the main things that are destroying your bioavailable copper
  • how Wilson’s disease has been resolved by the work of Svetlana Lutsenko
  • the animal-based nutrient necessary to take copper where it needs to go
  • how the work of Ancel Keyes began the decline of vitamin A in the American population
  • what drives the magnesium burn rate
  • copper requirements for people with black hair – clotting factors and copper
  • microcirculation and copper and more!

The Peace Offering with Jonathan Rickert | Copper and Iron’s Role in Sex Hormone Regulation with Morley Robbins | September 19, 2023

The Peace Offering with Jonathan Rickert | Copper and Iron’s Role in Sex Hormone Regulation with Morley Robbins | September 19, 2023

In this interview, Morley explains the relationships between iron and copper and how they influence Estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone.

Here are the highlights:

  • Most people (including cycling women) have toxic levels of unbound iron – most especially men and postmenopausal women
  • No such thing as iron deficient anemia, only lack bioavailable copper
  • Glyphosate, high fructose corn syrup, sorbitol and fourth generation antibiotics all prevent copper absorption
  • Iron is the most abundant element on earth
  • Top 3 most oxidative elements on earth are Fluorine, Oxygen, Iron
  • We accumulate 1mg/day every day we’re alive
  • Oxidative stress, glycation, and iron accumulation are the 3 top theories of aging
  • Iron causes oxidative stress and glycation (AGE)
  • The only way to get iron out is through blood loss via donation, phlebotomy, or menstruation
  • In 1941 FDA required iron to be added to grains and doubled it in 1969. This is seen as “enriched” or “fortified” in the ingredient list
  • We replace 2 trillion RBCs every day and only takes 25mgs to do this
  • 24 of the 25 mgs is recycled by the Reticuloendothelial System which is governed by Ceruloplasmin, a copper-dependent protein
  • Under stress, humans lose large amounts of magnesium
  • Sodium and Potassium are needed to make cortisol and adrenaline precursors
  • Emotional stress (cortisol) is severely disruptive to mineral balance and increases iron toxicity by lowering Ceruloplasmin
  • In men, if testosterone is too high (from TRT), iron accumulates in the prostate and causes cancer
  • If ceruloplasmin is low, estrogen will increase to provide backup antioxidant support
  • Progesterone is often low due to a deficiency in magnesium and B6, caused by stress
  • If ceruloplasmin is optimized, magnesium is optimized
  • Xenoestrogens unbind copper from ceruloplasmin taking the iron recycling system offline
